Alhamdulillah. [Music] All praise be to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala the most magnificent most beneficient most merciful. All praise be to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala for all his and favors that he has bestowed upon us. All praise be to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala for giving us the divine guidance of and the life to be present in this gathering today. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala in the previous verses in the beginning of this surah talks about the wealth of the orphans. Then Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala discussed the inheritance and how it should be distributed. Then Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala discussed the um those women with whom it is prohibited that a person make and last week we were discussing initially and we didn’t complete our discussion in regards to marrying women and also it is prohibited upon us that we marry anybody who’s already in somebody’s marriage and we mentioned that last week that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says that um besides except what your right hand owns your right hand owns means that when there is um and in the um and in Islam if the Muslim forces with um attack and the army of the Muslim armies attack a neighboring nation which is and it is not then the women that are taken as prisoners those women become slaves as long as the war has been sanctioned by the state not by a rebellious group it has to be sanctioned by the state then those women that captured from the opposite side from and then they are brought into Islam. Then those women are then taken as prisoners. The children are also taken as prisoners and the men are also taken as prisoners and the moment they enter into the marriage between their husbands in breaks. And um similarly if a Muslim if a if a non-believing woman be enters into the fold of Islam and she is married to a man who is a Christian or a Jew or some other religion at that time then that person will be given some time by which to think about what he wishes to do and if he wishes to continue living with this person And the after that time elapses he she will be the judge of the time will actually give a decree of separation between the two if he does not enter into the fold of Islam. So um but she doesn’t obviously she’s a free one she does not become a prisoner um or bonds woman because um she has not been caught and she has not been um a prisoner of war. Right? So because that entire system at the moment is not um applicable that entire system currently is not applicable. So we do not have any legal um bonds women or bond men or slaves which we call it and we do not have any legal type of slavery that is currently in the Muslim um so but because that this is going this is um the one of the rulings of the Quran and one of the rulings in the Sharia it is important to understand a woman cannot enslave herself Meaning that if a woman says that from today I or a man or a free man or a free woman cannot enslave themselves saying that from today I am your that I am now going to be your servant that is means nothing. There is no there is no ver verbiage and there is no verbal submission like that that would be accepted. So enslaving one po a person or if somebody kidnaps somebody that person doesn’t become a slave. Domestic servants are not slaves. Slaves are different. And do not think about slaves that were captured in the early part of the of in American history. Those even though they were named as slaves, they are not they were not slaves by by choice. They were not slaves by choice. So that type of slavery is also condemned in Islam. This is a completely different type of a concept by which we have to understand that they have rights and also those rights have been mentioned in the Quran and the Sunnah. There came a time when the slaves became so educated when slaves became so educated and we’ve mentioned it many times in our that they went on to become the go the leaders of the Muslim ummah they went on to become the leaders of Muslim armies. So this concept of sla the word slave in American history would be different. The concept of the word slave in the Islamic um terminology is completely different. The two cannot be compared. The two cannot be compared. Whereby the um Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says that on the blessed tongue of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam you have to feed them from what you eat, clothe them from what you wear. So there is the the concept is completely different. what we are thinking otherwise you can imagine the thousands and the thousands of people that came into um slavery or or became or became bonds men or bonds women and eventually they all converted to Islam and they went on to become um great students of their masters great students of their masters so the concept is completely different completely different and um even though it’s a topic for another day but this is how what your right hand owns this is what it means that your right hand there’s ownership involved in there and um Allah subhanahu wa’ta’ala says that if you are un um um if you want to if if you need to if you want to get married there are these um list of women that you can’t get married to and in the absence of these women being present then you can get married to somebody who is your bond’s woman or or your or your slave girl like that. Now um Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala then says and again this I explained touched upon it last time that it Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says that it is madeal upon you everything that all um any women any woman that has not been mentioned besides all these women that have been prohibited upon you and that you seek with your wealth so that you can bind them in marriage not out of lust. So the um um um then [Music] Allah and those from whom you want to you have drawn benefit from Then give them the as as something that has been incumbent upon you by Allah subhana wa tala. We mentioned this last week and I said we will explain it briefly here today that the Shia or those people who promote or market temporary marriages. A temporary marriage is that a person enter into a temporary marital contract in which the woman has no inheritance laws, no law, no other rights and the main and the goal and the purpose is to fulfills one’s lust and one desire. There is no intention of actually marrying her or making a home with her and having children with her. There is no intention like that. The whole the sole purpose of that marriage is to bind that person in marriage and then to um fulfill one’s desires that a type of that type of marriage to go into that type of marriage is not permissible. Number one. Number two to enter into a contract of marriage which is mak means that it is um it is said we are going to get married for two two days or we are going to maintain this marriage for one week I’ll marry you for a week I’ll marry you for two weeks that type of contract is also not permissible so a contract b a a marital a marital contract act in which there is no intention of actually setting up home with that individual and the that is also not permissible. Not permissible. That’s why you know when nowadays people have you know modern customs right modern traditions people get married and there is no intention of making a home with that person. There is no intention of having children with that person but and the sole purpose is to fulfills one’s desire and lust and the woman is at living at her parents’ home and the um and the man is living at at his home. That type of marriage is not a marriage. Number one. Number two or to get married for um um like we’ll be married for a few days. That is also not permissible. The um the Shia take this verse as their permissibility and you know what we use the same verse for his prohibition. Allah subhanahu wa tala says Allah says look to bind in the contract of marriage without one without the intention of fulfilling just your lust and desire otherwise all these other temporary contracts is just to fulfill one’s lust and one desire so our this same verse is used by us also there was this other in the middle east a new a new concept of marriage came where a woman could um offer herself into marriage to a man in which she gave up all her rights. No inheritance, no children, no expenditure, no house, no this, no this, no this. Um we’re just married. That type of contract according to these verses would also not be permissible. All right? And then Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says um if if you do intend to get married in the proper way to fulfills one to remain chast and to remain pure to remain chast and to remain pure then Allah subhanahu wa ta says that if after marriage you decided out of your pleasure that you wanted to increase in her mah you wanted to give her something extra. And I’m sure the brothers can relate to this very well because I’m sure you’ve all gone through this process where you wanted to give your wife more, but you just didn’t. But you wanted to, right, guys? Right. Come on. They say yes or no. You guys have to go home. I’m just I’m just I’m just I’m just rewarding you for the intention. Right? So where you might want have wanted to give her more and if you wanted to increase you can. And the wife mashallah she comes from a noble family and she comes from a very pious background righteous background and very innocent. when she came into the marriage and she saw how loving her husband was because he had to pay $50,000 in m but afterwards she goes let me just forgive the mahar to him and then his true colors came out she forgave the mahar and then the true colors came out but she can’t do that also she can reduce the amount also and also remember one golden rule and I want all the parents to remember one golden rule it doesn’t matter How much you increase the mah to protect the woman if two people are going to divorce they are not going to live together just because of the mah that is due experience and I gave you the example remember the 100 remember that who remembers one person remembers only one person two three people mashallah guy gets married I go to do make his nikah and um the um the mahar was be fixed. So, first of all, the um father-in-law was there and mash he goes just write down 100 kilos or go of gold. I goes, « What the you should have seen the drain, the color drain from that guy’s face. » I goes, he goes, « We’re never going to ask. Nobody’s going to ask. » I goes, I looked at the man. I go, I goes, « Listen, are you sure? » He goes, « Look, if he doesn’t want to accept the gold, let’s let let’s put it $100,000. Nobody’s going to ask. » He said, « Who’s going to ask? » Nobody’s asking, right? So um many many years passed many years passed somebody called me a woman calls me says im goes you remember long time ago you did my go I’ve done a lot of nikas I don’t remember he goes no no you tala I go I remember that one I remember that one very clearly goes do you happen to have that written contract of marriage? I goes, « No, I don’t. I was you can call the office and ask brother Isa because um I don’t have that information with me. » He goes, « Why? » Because we decided to separate and I just wanted to now recall that agreement. By the way, if the husband can’t give it, he can’t give it. He can’t afford it. He can’t afford it. You should never keep a mah that you can’t afford to give. Period. And plus there was no there was no woman more precious and more valuable than the daughter of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. And if you look at the mahar that she received is today’s equivalent. Today’s equivalent is approximately 1700 1800 somewhere in that range. Um the most the with the most baraka is something that is easily contracted, easily done. No, you didn’t go out of your way to actually arrange it. You didn’t have to sell an arm and a leg just to pay for it. Easy. You know, like some people have marriages, you know, they come down in a helicopter, you know, they come down in these white um you know, carts, right? And then the marriage lasts a few days. Everything was spent on the marriage and thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent in those marriages. This is all is you might as well you might as well give that money as a down payment to the husband and wife so that they can put it as a down payment for the new home. That is money better spent. I will make the nikah and the masid for free. Right? So the nikah is also done for free as long as it’s in the meas right nikah free the um the food you just give some sweets here and there you want to give a few people you want to invite your best friends to a meal the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam did say make a even if you have to go out of your way and sacrifice a goat or somebody some says meaning the minimum No, you got to do a wima. Even if you are minimum as a goat or either the maximum as a goat, one of the two, then wa is the sunnah of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Prepare a small meal, invite me, invite others and we’ll have a nice meal together and it’s done, right? Nice naan, fresh naan with some with some nice meats. Subhan Allah. Goes down good, mashallah. So um that says this is this is where the baraka is. What is it? Baraka is nowadays somebody gets married. Oh you got your daughter got married. Your son got you didn’t call me. Subhan Allah. Oh it was a small do but still I thought I was close to you man. Let me tell you ask you a question. The Sahabah’s relationship with the sui how was it? Did they love each other? Were the Sahabah would the Sahabah give their life for him? They couldn’t even sleep if the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam was in pain. A time came one day was beaten so badly that his face, his eyes, everything swelled up. His body completely swelled up. They couldn’t he couldn’t even see. That’s how swollen he was. He regains consciousness and immediately he asked to be taken to the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. That in his state he wants to make sure even in that state that no harm has come to the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. That he will gain peace by knowing that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam has no harm has come to him. So he’s taken by two men and he goes and visits the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam in that state. But the Sahabah used to get married and sometimes the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam found out afterwards afterwards the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam one day he had a bit of color on his clothing and the color because the color was used as a perfume by the women of that time. Nowadays the scent is used over there. For women the color color is the is the scent. Men the scent itself. The mashallah used to recognize each other that the other sahhabi went past here just by the scent of his perfume. Right? They go looks like Abdullahb Abbas walked through here. Looks like Abdullahbas walked through here because of the scent. Women, you’re not allowed to wear scent outside of the home. Women are not allowed to wear scent outside of the home. And inside of the home, they can, but if they wanted to wear a scent, then it’s is a colorful scent, not the one that um that is going to incline others towards them. So, a bit of color was on his clothing because what’s that color? Did you get married? The prophet wasallam asking, yeah, I got married. Subhan Allah. Mah great. He goes, « Who did you get married to? » Because he mentioned this and that. Then the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said make even if you slaughter a goat, you heard that make even if you slaughter a small goat. All right? You know why I’m telling Khalis, right? He got married lately. He didn’t inform none of you guys. Subhan Allah. None of you guys are special in his eyes. No, actually his father informed everybody. Alhamdulillah. But um inshallah he will do a wima also. Inshallah. Say inshallah. Inshallah. And make it nice and simple. Just meat and fresh bread. Huh. Inshallah. You don’t have to invite nobody. As long as the main guys are on the on the invite list, you have nothing to worry about. Again, it’s a joke. Honestly, it’s a joke. I’m just joking with you. Honestly, it’s I’m just happy when I hear that somebody in the community has got married is just inshallah. Nothing like that. Don’t worry about it. So Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, the purpose of marriage is to bind somebody and make a home with that person. to bind somebody in in the contract of marriage and make a home. The purpose is not just to fulfill one’s lust and desires even though that is a byproduct of getting married. Right? Then coming to today’s verse. So this is last week’s now coming to today’s verse and then Allah subhanahu wa ta says whoever does not have the ability from amongst you and who doesn’t have the financial strength is financial strength who does not have the ability to pay for the mah right that he get married to free women then what should he do free believing women look Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala mentions believing what does he mention believing even though it’s permissible to get married to but when he’s mentioning what does he mention believing what does that tell you a believer’s preference should be what talk to me why a believer’s preference should be what believer and subh man with foresight right the Islamic is growing sahabas are going out the is growing and non-Muslim um women start living in Islam now they are getting married to it. He goes no he goes if you are if you start doing this and if this becomes a common practice the permission is not open just for anybody. It’s not supposed to be a common practice because what will happen to our believing women? Who will get married to them? The preference should be believing women and then there are some cases in which a person um needs to wishes to and then he’s been given permission to not that it should be a common practice. The common practice should be getting married to believing women. So says um if you cannot get afford to get married and you cannot afford the mah of a free woman then you can get married to a slave woman a slave girl from your believing slave girls again slave but also believing right that believers slave girls slave Girls are usually owned by their master, right? In order to get married to her, you would have to take permission from her master. If he gives permission, then Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala um um encourages this marriage for those people who do not have who do not have the ability. This Allah knows of your faith. Somebody might be thinking am I going to get married to a slave girl? It’s beneath me to get married to a slave girl. Allah subhanahu wa tala says give giveh the somebody give the seat. Come knows best your faith. Allah knows best your faith. Meaning, don’t look down on people just because they’re slaves. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says your faith and their faith is known. I know who’s the most who who’s the most god-fearing and most god conscious. So don’t go around thinking other people are beneath you and you do not um because who’s beneath who only Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala knows. Allah knows your im. And then Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says and some of you are from and you are similar to one another in the saying that you are the same in your dean. You are the same in your dean and also you are a human being. They are a human being. You are the children of Adam. They are also the children of Adam. They should you should not be looking down on somebody in that just because of their situation. By the way, the worst thing that a man can do is look down on another person. The worst thing, one of the greatest crimes is to look down on people. And looking down on people and and the gave an example, it’s all in your head. You are thinking that you are superior to the other person. But who gave you that title of superiority? It’s all inside. You have given that title to yourself. It’s self-appointed. Nobody gave it to you. It’s selfappointed. So it’s just like if ase type of people if um if a man is um on top of the mountain and if you’re looking at the man on the mountain he looks big or small but when he comes down to your level he’s the same size. Right? So you think as somebody as small but when you find out their reality they’re the same. All right? And when he’s up on the mountain and he looks down on the people, the people look for him looks big or small. So he is actually its relative. A person speaks what his exper a man’s own experience. A person thinks he’s superior because of different reasons. Name me one. Huh? Finance. Number one. Number two. Huh? Skin color. Skin color. Skin color. Number two. Number three, family. Leanage. Number four, intelligence. Number five, beauty. Number six, knowledge. Number seven, status. Again, status self-appointed, right? He says, I’m I have. So, remember status is like this with him. I have status. One day you you wake up one day and you wake up from your bed and says, « I think I have status. » Self-appointed title. Nobody gave it to you. Self-appointed. No woman, no man should look down upon each other. The most important thing is that you have faith. They have faith. That is what brings two hearts together. Amen. And loyalty is to loyalty is to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. If the woman is loyal to Allah and you are loyal to Allah then you will find a way to make that marriage work. Remember the key today we want loyalty from each other. No when the man is loyal to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and the woman is also loyal to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala then we’ll find a way to make it inshallah. And in the worst case scenario, we read we read all about tal inah bakar. You can come back and recite you can go back and recite it and look at the translation. But um in a worst case scenario then if you need to separate then you either live with them as recognized or you release them in fairness or you release them in fairness. Marry them with the permission of their masters. here is not is family but the family of a of a bond woman is who her master again how many times Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has mentioned to give them their mah and give them their mah so men there is no need for you to keep any mah outstanding Allahh says give them indication that it should be given as recognized. According to the master will is in also the ownership of the mah. According to the woman will be the owner of the mah. And then look the reason to get married to them to bind them in marriage to make a family have a family with them. And it says without taking them as your mistresses, without taking them as um no without committing um any um um shameful acts with them and not taking them as parammers or mistresses and that is not the reason and the purpose that you are getting married to them. So again Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is promoting what? What’s the purpose of marriage now? Family. Period. Purpose of marriage is what? Family. To bring a family. To bring up a family to live together. That’s the purpose of marriage. But once they have you have married them and you have bound them into in marriage, if Allah forbid if she does something wrong and if she commits a shameful act, then upon her and upon them will be half of the punishment that is upon a free woman. A free woman if she’s not married or a free man if he’s not married and they commit a shameful act. What is the punishment? Lashes. How many lashes? 100. How many? 100. If they are married, what’s the punishment? Death. As long as the witnesses give the witness, right? upon a slave girl or a slave man, the 100 lashes will become 50. But how can you half kill somebody? I’m going to kill you half. You can’t half chop somebody’s head off, right? So Allah subhanahu the punishment for them in both situations is 50 lashes. The punishment for them in both situations married or unmarried is 50 lashes because it cannot be half. The other one cannot be from the punishment. All this that has been mentioned to you. All this that has been mentioned to you above, that is for the one who fears to fall in sin. to fall in sin. So Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala wants to prevent sin in society and in order for that if a person can afford it then he should get married to a free woman. If a person cannot afford it he can get married to a slave girl and in both cases he will still have to give her her mah. In both cases he will still have to give her a mah. And in both cases the the purpose and the goal and the objective of marriage is to have a family bind her in marriage and live with her and give her the rights of marriage and also give her the rights of inheritance. One of the other reasons right that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has b has given this condition here that the slave girl has to be a believer. If she is a disbeliever, if she is a non-believer, then the children that will be born to her, they will also be born in bondship meaning in slavery. So the probability of them becoming Muslim is less because she will be um um she will the children will be with her. So in that situation, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says to avoid that, making sure that the progeny remains in the fold of Islam, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has put all of these rules and restrictions in place so that in order to safeguard society, in order to safeguard society, then Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says, If you can be patient, you don’t have the finances to get married to a free woman. And if you can be patient and you can control yourselves that you um that you marry somebody who is a slave, if you can be patient from doing that or entering into that type of a of a marriage, then patience might be better for you. So technically again safeguarding society. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala saying that listen if you fear that you’re going to fall in sin then get married. If you fear that you’re not going to be you’re not going to fall in sin then save up some money and get married to a free woman. Free believing woman right? Again I put the clause free believing woman. What do we learn from here? We learned the following to de a person who is a a man or a woman who is in need of getting married and the marriage is delayed for no apparent reason and Allah forbid Allah forbid if the child falls or the children fall into sin the person and the the responsible party will be who? Huh? Who’s the responsible party? The parents. The responsible party is the parents. That’s why the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam says when you receive a proposal when you receive a proposal and the proposal is good and the morals and the etiquets of the person is good he might not be he might not be Elon Musk he might not have the finances or he might not be like a rich person or a fluent person but if he is a of good morals if he has good etiquette then you should give your daughter in marriage. If you don’t, there will be a great trial and tribulation in society and a disorder in society that is widespread. A widespread disorder. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala does not like or group of young men, if you can afford $1,000, if you can afford 500 bucks, get married. You should get married. And this is the commander from Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. Allah does not like young men and young women roaming about society without merch. that this is something that is goes against our it goes against our nature that we um that you Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has placed desire in every human being and it goes against our nature not to get married. So those parents who continuously delay their like um the marriage is because you know he has to have a job, he has to earn his own house, he has to leave the home, he has to do this, he has to do that. You’re just putting more and more restrictions upon the person. And by the way, the leaving of the home at the age of 18 or is it 16? What is it? Huh? 18. The leaving of the home at the age of 18 is Muslim tradition or non-Muslim tradition. Why do we practice it then? There is no reason for a boy or a man or a woman to leave the parent the parents’ home at the age of 18. Now go home and tell your parents that mom and dad I’m going to live with you forever. Imam said, Imam said, you can’t throw me out. So if the boy gets rebellious, you can show him the door. But even if a woman gets rebellious, you can’t show her the door. You just can’t. What would this will cause a bigger fna? It will cause a greater disorder. So if a woman becomes um disobedient, you cannot show her the door. So parents are fully responsible parents again but a father mashallah Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala Allah is Allah has given him the heart Allah has given him the love that he does not think like that he does not think of being separated from his children right right fathers why do you have your fingers crossed a father doesn’t think like that a father mashallah subhanahu wa tala has given him a big Alhamdulillah says Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is all forgiving all merciful then says Allah wishes what does he wish to clearly explain something to you is when you person gives a lecture what you say what is he giving means that the purpose of the is so that the listener understand everything very clearly. The purpose of the bayan is not to use certain language and such superior language that nobody can understand you. You know one day I sat in a professor’s lecture. I would need a dictionary to understand his lecture and this and that and this. So some people mashallah Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has given them eloquency but you have to talk we have to talk on the level and and the understanding of everybody that every person in your gathering should be able to understand him. So Allah is saying the way I have just explained this all about nikah I have clearly explained it to you. Allah wishes that he clearly explains something to you so that you understand it and he guide you in the ways of those people who pass before you from the is what isal and what is haram and Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala wishes that you implement this so that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala can and and to relent to you and and turn to you and you and relent you and relent means that he accept your repentance your turning back Allah is the who is the manufacturer Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala who manufactured human beings who better to know what is good for us and what is bad for us than Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and Allah is all knowing And Allah is very wise. Allah knows what he’s created and Allah knows our limitations and Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala knows that we have desires and Allah subhanahu wa tala has clearly explained to us on how to fulfill those desires and then again Allah again Allah emphasizes again Allah wishes that he turn to you in um um and in accepting your repentance says repeated it again so that a person And Allah knows that Allah that he’s emphasizing that Allah knows that you are going to make mistakes and errors if you do not act upon the previous and Allah subhana wa tala says by acting upon the previous you you will then make TBA and you will come back and return from your bad ways and you’ll turn into and you’ll come come to the um the path of chastity and when you come onto the path of chastity Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala will accept your return that’s what it means But it goes and intend those individuals who follow and pursue their desires. The general society that you become that you lean want you to become want you to deviate a great deviation. Now there are people who promote that you know the message should be open for men and women. It should be alhamdulillah. I agree. But there should be no partition between men and women. This says why? Because because our boys and our boys need to get married. So okay. Okay. So what’s that got to do with that? Okay. Now there is promotion that you know masid needs to become more open. Okay. Mazjid open the doors. It’ll become more open. So no, mazjid is to become more open where men and women should be sitting right in front of each other in a mixed gathering and the imam should address them both. Okay, no problem. Okay, no problem. Give me the proof from the Quran and the sunnah of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. This is no at the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam women used to go to the masid. says even women come to the masid even now at the time of the prophet sallallah wasallam women used to be behind the men and the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam was and the men were in front pick up the books of hadith the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam would lead the men and the women in prayer number one and then when the prophet sallallaihi wasallam would turn around he would say no bird of the men turn around. None of the men turn around until all of the women leave and then he would give the men the permission to move from their spots until the masid has become empty. He then gives permission to for the men to leave their position. Not that they’re leaving the masid all at the same from the same entrance and exit point. Nowadays, this type of control is not there. So you have to have separate entrances because how you can you imagine nowadays saying men sit keep sit keep sitting and let all the women leave all the men will also go I’m just telling you fact now if you want to build something and if you want to make something you have to make sure that the proper etiquette of the masid is maintained and mazjid and its surrounding areas masid and its surrounding areas if there is no if there is no restriction now because um you know there’s a center in Virginia it has a coffee shop um what they do call it in the masid uh there’s another name for it um if you guys remind me there’s a it’s a it’s not a coffee shop it’s a um it’s a hangout lounge right and the boys and girls are sitting there having chai having coffee. Is that permissible? Would it be permissible in an Islamic institute? Would it be permissible? And but there are people now from Muslims who also want to promote this. You want to promote this type of um this type then you don’t have to do it in the masid, right? You can do it in your own homes. You can do it in your own homes, but you don’t have to bring that environment of your home into the masid. Or let it be your lack of understanding. Let it be a lack of understanding that you just don’t know. And because you just don’t know, you shouldn’t be making those decisions. If you’re going to have a coffee shop, it has to be separate entrances in the Mid. If you are going to have a men and women’s prayer prayer area, it has to be different. So otherwise what’s going to happen? Look, don’t look at what’s going to happen today. Look 50 years from today. Look 60 years from today. It’s going to and we are going to be the people who initiated it. All that sin will come upon us. Do not initiate something evil in society because everybody that follows that evil will you we will get the sin. If you want to initiate something in society and propagate market something good innovate something good. Allah has given you intelligence. Allah has given you intellect. Use it to do something good rather than you know making the masid a boys and girls club and you promote it like that. The youth are going to love it. The youth are going to love it. because they just don’t know, right? They just don’t know. May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala give us the understanding. And if a imam or somebody says, you know, this is wrong, this is this im backwards, man. This im lives in lives in cuckuland. This imam doesn’t live in America. By the way, this im was born in United Kingdom. And I all my friends were non-Muslim. I used to be the only colored guy in school. Not the only me but only Muslim guy in school. So I know what it means. I know exactly what it means. I we used to I mean all my friends were non-Muslim. All my friends were non-Muslim in school. All right. So um to understand if um um what it means and to understand the pressures of of school and university and all that we understand that but that doesn’t mean we try to imitate and bring that environment into the house of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala the house of Allah is sacred house of Allah is what sacred and the sanctity and the of the house of Allah and its surrounding needs to be maintained at all times. You understand what I said, right? You understood what I said. What time is it? 9:25. Subhan Allah. Oh, today we have some time. It’s 9:45. Sorry. So, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says, « You said you wanted me to finish. » read and intend those individuals that who want to follow their desires that you you deviate a great dev um deviate completely means to lean towards something. What does it mean to lean? To lean towards a certain a thought process, a third certain tradition, certain practice. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says in the Quran, do not even slant towards those who are unjust. If you do that, the fire will catch you. Fire will what? the fire will catch you. So please be mindful that even leaning towards these type of thought processes is not promising. Leaning towards these thought processes is not. So um there was um one in one um discussion he goes you know the it is it is not appropriate for men to look at women but it’s okay for women to look at men. I says, « Huh? You hearing that, sisters? » I said, I go, « How is that? » He goes, « You know was watching the the men in the masid or masid and we practicing. But who was standing next to her? Who was standing next to her? The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. » Right? Number one. And number two, one day the wives of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam, a blind sahhabi, a blind companion, he was he was going to enter into the room. So the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, « Make um make hijab, cover yourself, cover yourself in a way that you can’t see him. » They said, « Yoolah, he’s blind. He can’t see us. » The prophet says he can’t see you, but you can see him. He can’t see you but you can see him right so I’m not sure where that thought process is coming from but um we have proof in the hadith of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam otherwise so remember whatever decisions that you make you have to first make sure that the sanctity of the masid is maintained sanctity of the masid is what maintained at all times So then Allah subhanahu wa tala says Allah wishes that he make it easy upon you. Allah wants to what? Make marriage what? Easy upon you. Allah wants to make marriage easy. But what who’s made it difficult? Society. Allah made marriage easy. Who made it difficult? Society. You read and then look at the Allah concludes. Allah has created man weak. Man has been created weak. There is no man who cannot live without a woman and there’s no woman who can live without a man. This is the way of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala’s creation. This is how Allah has created us. A person tight try to go against that. Allah says you are weak. you won’t be able to do it. you won’t be able to remain chast. May Allah subhana wa tala give me and you the guidance and to understand what we have um read and understand what we have translated and understand what we have learned and whatever mistakes and errors that we have made Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala forgive us and inshallah the next part is we’re changing theme slightly we’re going to go into next week a bit business all right so um we’ll discuss that inshallah Allah give us and guidance. Allah give us baraka in our lives. Next week inshallah we’ll discuss [Music] that. Subhan allah. Alhamdulillah. [Music] .

2.24 Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah.

2.24 All praise be to Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala the most magnificent most
2.24 beneficient most
2.24 merciful. All praise be to Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala for all his and
2.24 favors that he has bestowed upon us. All
2.24 praise be to Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 for giving us the divine guidance of and
2.24 the life to be present in this gathering
2.24 today. Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala in the
2.24 previous verses in the beginning of this
2.24 surah talks about the wealth of the
2.24 orphans. Then Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 discussed the inheritance and how it
2.24 should be distributed.
2.24 Then Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala discussed
2.24 the um those women with whom it is
2.24 prohibited that a person
2.24 make and last week we were discussing
2.24 initially and we didn&;t complete our
2.24 discussion in regards to marrying
2.24 women and also it is prohibited upon us
2.24 that we marry anybody who&;s already in
2.24 somebody&;s marriage and we mentioned
2.24 that last
2.24 week that Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala says
2.24 that
2.24 um besides except what your right hand
2.24 owns your right hand owns means that
2.24 when there is
2.24 um and
2.24 in the um and in Islam if the Muslim
2.24 forces with um attack and the army of
2.24 the Muslim armies attack a neighboring
2.24 nation which
2.24 is and it is
2.24 not then the women that are taken as
2.24 prisoners those women become slaves as
2.24 long as the war has been sanctioned by
2.24 the state not by a rebellious group it
2.24 has to be sanctioned by the state then
2.24 those women that captured from the
2.24 opposite side
2.24 from and then they are brought into
2.24 Islam.
2.24 Then those women are then taken as
2.24 prisoners. The children are also taken
2.24 as prisoners and the men are also taken
2.24 as prisoners and the moment they enter
2.24 into the marriage between their husbands
2.24 in
2.24 breaks. And um similarly if a Muslim if
2.24 a if a non-believing woman be enters
2.24 into the fold of Islam and she is
2.24 married to a man who is a Christian or a
2.24 Jew or some other religion at that time
2.24 then that person will be given some time
2.24 by which to think about what he wishes
2.24 to do and if he wishes to continue
2.24 living with this person And the after
2.24 that time elapses he she will be the
2.24 judge of the time will actually give a
2.24 decree of separation between the two if
2.24 he does not enter into the fold of
2.24 Islam. So um but she doesn&;t obviously
2.24 she&;s a free one she does not become a
2.24 prisoner um or bonds woman because um
2.24 she has not been caught and she has not
2.24 been um a prisoner of war. Right? So
2.24 because that entire system at the moment
2.24 is not
2.24 um applicable that entire system
2.24 currently is not applicable. So we do
2.24 not have any legal
2.24 um bonds women or bond men or slaves
2.24 which we call it and we do not have any
2.24 legal type of slavery that is currently
2.24 in the Muslim
2.24 um so but because that this is going
2.24 this is um the one of the rulings of the
2.24 Quran and one of the rulings in the
2.24 Sharia it is important to understand a
2.24 woman cannot enslave herself
2.24 Meaning that if a woman says that from
2.24 today I or a man or a free man or a free
2.24 woman cannot enslave themselves saying
2.24 that from today I am your that I am now
2.24 going to be your servant that is means
2.24 nothing. There is no there is no ver
2.24 verbiage and there is no verbal
2.24 submission like that that would be
2.24 accepted. So enslaving one po a person
2.24 or if somebody kidnaps somebody that
2.24 person doesn&;t become a slave. Domestic
2.24 servants are not slaves. Slaves are
2.24 different. And do not think about slaves
2.24 that were
2.24 captured in the early part of the of in
2.24 American history. Those even though they
2.24 were named as slaves, they are not they
2.24 were not slaves by by choice. They were
2.24 not slaves by choice. So that type of
2.24 slavery is also condemned in Islam. This
2.24 is a completely different type of a
2.24 concept by which we have to understand
2.24 that they have rights and also those
2.24 rights have been mentioned in the Quran
2.24 and the Sunnah. There came a time when
2.24 the slaves became so
2.24 educated when slaves became so educated
2.24 and we&;ve mentioned it many times in our
2.24 that they went on to become the go the
2.24 leaders of the Muslim ummah they went on
2.24 to become the leaders of Muslim armies.
2.24 So this concept of sla the word slave in
2.24 American history would be different. The
2.24 concept of the word slave in the Islamic
2.24 um terminology is completely different.
2.24 The two cannot be compared. The two
2.24 cannot be compared. Whereby the um Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala says that on the
2.24 blessed tongue of the prophet sallallahu
2.24 alaihi wasallam you have to feed them
2.24 from what you
2.24 eat, clothe them from what you wear. So
2.24 there is the the concept is completely
2.24 different. what we are thinking
2.24 otherwise you can imagine the thousands
2.24 and the thousands of people that came
2.24 into um slavery or or became or became
2.24 bonds men or bonds
2.24 women and eventually they all converted
2.24 to Islam and they went on to become um
2.24 great students of their masters great
2.24 students of their masters so the concept
2.24 is completely different completely
2.24 different and um even though it&;s a
2.24 topic for another day but this is
2.24 how what your right hand owns this is
2.24 what it means that your right hand
2.24 there&;s ownership involved in there and
2.24 um Allah subhanahu wa&;ta&;ala says that
2.24 if you are un um um if you want to if if
2.24 you need to if you want to get married
2.24 there are these um list of women that
2.24 you can&;t get married to and in the
2.24 absence of these women being present
2.24 then you can get married to somebody who
2.24 is your bond&;s woman or or your or your
2.24 slave girl like that.
2.24 Now um Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala then
2.24 says and again
2.24 this I explained touched upon it last
2.24 time that it Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 says that it is madeal upon
2.24 you everything that all um any women any
2.24 woman that has not been mentioned
2.24 besides all these women that have been
2.24 prohibited upon you and that you seek
2.24 with your
2.24 wealth so that you can bind them in
2.24 marriage not out of
2.24 lust. So the um um um then
2.24 [Music]
2.24 Allah and those from whom you want to
2.24 you have drawn benefit from
2.24 Then give them
2.24 the as as something that has been
2.24 incumbent upon you by Allah subhana wa
2.24 tala. We mentioned this last week and I
2.24 said we will explain it briefly here
2.24 today that the
2.24 Shia or those people who promote or
2.24 market temporary
2.24 marriages. A temporary marriage is that
2.24 a person enter into a temporary marital
2.24 contract in which the woman has no
2.24 inheritance laws, no law, no other
2.24 rights and the main and the goal and the
2.24 purpose is to fulfills one&;s lust and
2.24 one desire. There is no intention of
2.24 actually marrying her or making a home
2.24 with her and having children with her.
2.24 There is no intention like that.
2.24 The whole the sole purpose of that
2.24 marriage is to bind that person in
2.24 marriage and
2.24 then to um fulfill one&;s
2.24 desires that a type of that type of
2.24 marriage to go into that type of
2.24 marriage is not
2.24 permissible. Number one. Number
2.24 two to enter into a contract of marriage
2.24 which is mak means that it is um it is
2.24 said we are going to get married for two
2.24 two days or we are going to maintain
2.24 this marriage for one week I&;ll marry
2.24 you for a week I&;ll marry you for two
2.24 weeks that type of contract is also not
2.24 permissible so a contract b a a marital
2.24 a marital contract act in which there is
2.24 no intention of actually setting up home
2.24 with that individual and the that is
2.24 also not
2.24 permissible. Not permissible. That&;s why
2.24 you know when
2.24 nowadays people have you know modern
2.24 customs right modern traditions people
2.24 get married and there is no intention of
2.24 making a home with that person. There is
2.24 no intention of having children with
2.24 that person but and the sole purpose is
2.24 to fulfills one&;s desire and lust and
2.24 the woman is at living at her parents&;
2.24 home and the um and the man is living at
2.24 at his home. That type of marriage is
2.24 not a
2.24 marriage. Number one. Number two or to
2.24 get married for um um like we&;ll be
2.24 married for a few days. That is also not
2.24 permissible. The um the Shia take this
2.24 verse as their permissibility and you
2.24 know what we use the same verse for his
2.24 prohibition. Allah subhanahu wa tala
2.24 says Allah says look to bind in the
2.24 contract of
2.24 marriage without one without the
2.24 intention of fulfilling just your lust
2.24 and desire otherwise all these other
2.24 temporary contracts is just to fulfill
2.24 one&;s lust and one desire so our this
2.24 same verse is used by us
2.24 also there was this other in the middle
2.24 east a new a new concept of marriage
2.24 came where a woman could um offer
2.24 herself into marriage to a man in which
2.24 she gave up all her rights. No
2.24 inheritance, no children, no
2.24 expenditure, no house, no this, no this,
2.24 no this. Um we&;re just
2.24 married. That type of contract according
2.24 to these verses would also not be
2.24 permissible. All right?
2.24 And then Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala says
2.24 um if if you do intend to get married in
2.24 the proper way to fulfills one to remain
2.24 chast and to remain
2.24 pure to remain chast and to remain pure
2.24 then Allah subhanahu wa ta says that if
2.24 after marriage you
2.24 decided out of your pleasure that you
2.24 wanted to increase in her mah you wanted
2.24 to give her something extra. And I&;m
2.24 sure the brothers can relate to this
2.24 very well because I&;m sure you&;ve all
2.24 gone through this process where you
2.24 wanted to give your wife more, but you
2.24 just didn&;t. But you wanted to, right,
2.24 guys?
2.24 Right. Come on. They say yes or no. You
2.24 guys have to go
2.24 home. I&;m just I&;m just I&;m just I&;m
2.24 just rewarding you for the intention.
2.24 Right? So where you might want have
2.24 wanted to give her more and if you
2.24 wanted to increase you can. And the wife
2.24 mashallah she comes from a noble family
2.24 and she comes from a very pious
2.24 background righteous background and very
2.24 innocent. when she came into the
2.24 marriage and she saw how loving her
2.24 husband was because he had to pay
2.24 $50,000 in m but afterwards she goes let
2.24 me just forgive the mahar to him and
2.24 then his true colors came
2.24 out she forgave the mahar and then the
2.24 true colors came out
2.24 but she can&;t do that also she can
2.24 reduce the amount also and also remember
2.24 one golden rule and I want all the
2.24 parents to remember one golden rule it
2.24 doesn&;t matter How much you increase the
2.24 mah to protect the woman if two people
2.24 are going to divorce they are not going
2.24 to live together just because of the mah
2.24 that is
2.24 due experience and I gave you the
2.24 example remember the 100 remember that
2.24 who remembers one person remembers only
2.24 one person two three people mashallah
2.24 guy gets married I go to do make his
2.24 nikah and um the um the mahar was be
2.24 fixed. So, first of all, the um
2.24 father-in-law was there and mash he goes
2.24 just write down 100 kilos or go of gold.
2.24 I goes, "What the you should have seen
2.24 the drain, the color drain from that
2.24 guy&;s face." I goes, he goes, "We&;re
2.24 never going to ask. Nobody&;s going to
2.24 ask." I goes, I looked at the man. I go,
2.24 I goes, "Listen, are you sure?"
2.24 He goes, "Look, if he doesn&;t want to
2.24 accept the gold, let&;s let let&;s put it
2.24 $100,000. Nobody&;s going to ask." He
2.24 said, "Who&;s going to ask?" Nobody&;s
2.24 asking, right?
2.24 So
2.24 um many many years
2.24 passed many years
2.24 passed somebody called me a woman calls
2.24 me says
2.24 im goes you remember long time ago you
2.24 did my go I&;ve done a lot of nikas I
2.24 don&;t remember he goes no no you tala I
2.24 go I remember that one I remember that
2.24 one very
2.24 clearly goes do you happen to have that
2.24 written contract of
2.24 marriage? I goes, "No, I don&;t. I was
2.24 you can call the office and ask brother
2.24 Isa because um I don&;t have that
2.24 information with me." He goes, "Why?"
2.24 Because we decided to separate and I
2.24 just wanted to
2.24 now recall that
2.24 agreement. By the way, if the husband
2.24 can&;t give it, he can&;t give it. He
2.24 can&;t afford it. He can&;t afford it. You
2.24 should never keep a mah that you can&;t
2.24 afford to give. Period. And plus there
2.24 was no there was no woman more precious
2.24 and more valuable than the daughter of
2.24 the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
2.24 And if you look at the mahar that she
2.24 received is today&;s equivalent. Today&;s
2.24 equivalent is approximately 1700 1800
2.24 somewhere in that range.
2.24 Um the most the with the most baraka is
2.24 something that is easily contracted,
2.24 easily done. No, you didn&;t go out of
2.24 your way to actually arrange it. You
2.24 didn&;t have to sell an arm and a leg
2.24 just to pay for
2.24 it.
2.24 Easy. You know, like some people have
2.24 marriages, you know, they come down in a
2.24 helicopter, you know, they come down in
2.24 these white um you know, carts, right?
2.24 And then the marriage lasts a few
2.24 days. Everything was spent on the
2.24 marriage and thousands and hundreds of
2.24 thousands of dollars are spent in those
2.24 marriages. This is all is you might as
2.24 well you might as well give that money
2.24 as a down payment to the husband and
2.24 wife so that they can put it as a down
2.24 payment for the new home. That is money
2.24 better spent. I will make the nikah and
2.24 the masid for free. Right? So the nikah
2.24 is also done for free as long as it&;s in
2.24 the
2.24 meas right nikah
2.24 free the um the food you just give some
2.24 sweets here and there you want to give a
2.24 few people you want to invite your best
2.24 friends to a meal the prophet sallallahu
2.24 alaihi wasallam did
2.24 say make a even if you have to go out of
2.24 your way and sacrifice a goat or
2.24 somebody some
2.24 says meaning the minimum No, you got to
2.24 do a wima. Even if you are minimum as a
2.24 goat or either the maximum as a goat,
2.24 one of the two, then wa is the sunnah of
2.24 the prophet sallallahu alaihi
2.24 wasallam. Prepare a small meal, invite
2.24 me, invite others and we&;ll have a nice
2.24 meal together and it&;s done, right? Nice
2.24 naan, fresh naan with some with some
2.24 nice meats. Subhan Allah. Goes down
2.24 good, mashallah.
2.24 So um that says this is this is where
2.24 the baraka is. What is it? Baraka is
2.24 nowadays somebody gets married. Oh you
2.24 got your daughter got married. Your son
2.24 got you didn&;t call
2.24 me. Subhan
2.24 Allah. Oh it was a small do but still I
2.24 thought I was close to you
2.24 man. Let me tell
2.24 you ask you a question.
2.24 The Sahabah&;s relationship with the sui
2.24 how was
2.24 it? Did they love each
2.24 other? Were the Sahabah would the
2.24 Sahabah give their life for him? They
2.24 couldn&;t even sleep if the prophet
2.24 sallallahu alaihi wasallam was in
2.24 pain. A time came one
2.24 day was beaten so badly that his face,
2.24 his eyes, everything swelled up. His
2.24 body completely swelled up. They
2.24 couldn&;t he couldn&;t even see. That&;s
2.24 how swollen he
2.24 was. He regains consciousness and
2.24 immediately he asked to be taken to the
2.24 prophet sallallahu alaihi
2.24 wasallam. That in his state he wants to
2.24 make sure even in that state that no
2.24 harm has come to the prophet sallallahu
2.24 alaihi wasallam. That he will gain peace
2.24 by knowing that the prophet sallallahu
2.24 alaihi wasallam has no harm has come to
2.24 him. So he&;s taken by two men and he
2.24 goes and visits the prophet sallallahu
2.24 alaihi wasallam in that
2.24 state. But the Sahabah used to get
2.24 married and sometimes the prophet
2.24 sallallahu alaihi wasallam found out
2.24 afterwards
2.24 afterwards the prophet sallallahu alaihi
2.24 wasallam one
2.24 day he had a bit of color on his
2.24 clothing and the color because the color
2.24 was used as a perfume by the women of
2.24 that time. Nowadays the scent is used
2.24 over there. For women the color color is
2.24 the is the scent. Men the scent itself.
2.24 The mashallah used to recognize each
2.24 other that the other sahhabi went past
2.24 here just by the scent of his
2.24 perfume. Right? They go looks like
2.24 Abdullahb Abbas walked through here.
2.24 Looks like Abdullahbas walked through
2.24 here because of the scent. Women, you&;re
2.24 not allowed to wear scent outside of the
2.24 home. Women are not allowed to wear
2.24 scent outside of the home. And inside of
2.24 the home, they can, but if they wanted
2.24 to wear a scent, then it&;s is a colorful
2.24 scent, not the one that um that is going
2.24 to incline others towards them. So, a
2.24 bit of color was on his clothing because
2.24 what&;s that color? Did you get married?
2.24 The prophet wasallam asking, yeah, I got
2.24 married. Subhan Allah. Mah great. He
2.24 goes, "Who did you get married to?"
2.24 Because he mentioned this and
2.24 that. Then the prophet sallallahu alaihi
2.24 wasallam
2.24 said make even if you slaughter a
2.24 goat, you heard
2.24 that make even if you slaughter a small
2.24 goat. All
2.24 right? You know why I&;m telling Khalis,
2.24 right?
2.24 He got married lately. He didn&;t inform
2.24 none of you guys. Subhan Allah. None of
2.24 you guys are special in his eyes. No,
2.24 actually his father informed everybody.
2.24 Alhamdulillah. But um inshallah he will
2.24 do a wima also. Inshallah. Say
2.24 inshallah. Inshallah. And make it nice
2.24 and simple. Just meat and fresh
2.24 bread.
2.24 Huh.
2.24 Inshallah. You don&;t have to invite
2.24 nobody. As long as the main guys are on
2.24 the on the invite list, you have nothing
2.24 to worry
2.24 about. Again, it&;s a joke. Honestly,
2.24 it&;s a joke. I&;m just joking with you.
2.24 Honestly, it&;s I&;m just happy when I
2.24 hear that somebody in the community has
2.24 got married is just inshallah. Nothing
2.24 like that. Don&;t worry about
2.24 it. So Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala, the
2.24 purpose of marriage is to bind somebody
2.24 and make a home with that person.
2.24 to bind somebody in in the contract of
2.24 marriage and make a home. The purpose is
2.24 not just to fulfill one&;s lust and
2.24 desires even though that is a byproduct
2.24 of getting married.
2.24 Right? Then coming to today&;s verse. So
2.24 this is last week&;s now coming to
2.24 today&;s verse and then Allah subhanahu
2.24 wa ta says whoever does not have the
2.24 ability from amongst you and who doesn&;t
2.24 have the financial strength
2.24 is financial strength who does not have
2.24 the ability to pay for the mah
2.24 right that he get
2.24 married to free
2.24 women then what should he do free
2.24 believing
2.24 women look Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 mentions
2.24 believing what does he mention believing
2.24 even though it&;s permissible to get
2.24 married
2.24 to but when he&;s mentioning what does he
2.24 mention believing what does that tell
2.24 you a believer&;s preference should be
2.24 what talk to me why a believer&;s
2.24 preference should be what
2.24 believer and subh man with foresight
2.24 right the Islamic is
2.24 growing sahabas are going out the is
2.24 growing and non-Muslim um women start
2.24 living in
2.24 Islam now they are getting
2.24 married to it. He goes
2.24 no he
2.24 goes if you are if you start doing this
2.24 and if this becomes a common
2.24 practice the permission is not open just
2.24 for anybody. It&;s not supposed to be a
2.24 common
2.24 practice because what will happen to our
2.24 believing women? Who will get married to
2.24 them? The preference should be believing
2.24 women and then there are some cases in
2.24 which a person um needs to wishes to and
2.24 then he&;s been given permission to not
2.24 that it should be a common
2.24 practice. The common practice should be
2.24 getting married to believing women.
2.24 So says
2.24 um if you cannot get afford to get
2.24 married and you cannot afford the mah of
2.24 a free woman then you can get married to
2.24 a slave woman a slave
2.24 girl from your believing slave
2.24 girls again slave but also believing
2.24 right that believers slave girls slave
2.24 Girls are usually owned by their master,
2.24 right? In order to get married to her,
2.24 you would have to take permission from
2.24 her master. If he gives permission, then
2.24 Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala um um
2.24 encourages this marriage for those
2.24 people who do not have who do not have
2.24 the
2.24 ability.
2.24 This Allah knows of your faith. Somebody
2.24 might be thinking am I going to get
2.24 married to a slave girl? It&;s beneath me
2.24 to get married to a slave girl. Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa tala says give giveh the
2.24 somebody give the seat.
2.24 Come knows best your
2.24 faith. Allah knows best your faith.
2.24 Meaning, don&;t look down on people just
2.24 because they&;re slaves. Allah subhanahu
2.24 wa ta&;ala says your faith and their
2.24 faith is known. I know who&;s the most
2.24 who who&;s the most god-fearing and most
2.24 god conscious. So don&;t go around
2.24 thinking other people are beneath you
2.24 and you do not um because who&;s beneath
2.24 who only Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 knows. Allah knows your im. And then
2.24 Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 says and some of you are from and you
2.24 are similar to one another in the saying
2.24 that you are the same in your
2.24 dean. You are the same in your dean and
2.24 also you are a human being. They are a
2.24 human being. You are the children of
2.24 Adam. They are also the children of
2.24 Adam. They should you should not be
2.24 looking down on somebody in that just
2.24 because of their situation. By the way,
2.24 the worst thing that a man can do is
2.24 look down on another person. The worst
2.24 thing, one of the greatest crimes is to
2.24 look down on people. And looking down on
2.24 people and and the gave an example, it&;s
2.24 all in your head. You are thinking that
2.24 you are superior to the other person.
2.24 But who gave you that title of
2.24 superiority? It&;s all inside. You have
2.24 given that title to yourself. It&;s
2.24 self-appointed.
2.24 Nobody gave it to you. It&;s
2.24 selfappointed. So it&;s just like if ase
2.24 type of people if um if a man is um on
2.24 top of the
2.24 mountain and if you&;re looking at the
2.24 man on the mountain he looks big or
2.24 small but when he comes down to your
2.24 level he&;s the same
2.24 size. Right? So you think as somebody as
2.24 small but when you find out their
2.24 reality they&;re the
2.24 same. All right? And when he&;s up on the
2.24 mountain and he looks down on the
2.24 people, the people look for him looks
2.24 big or small. So he is actually its
2.24 relative. A person speaks what his exper
2.24 a man&;s own experience. A person thinks
2.24 he&;s superior because of different
2.24 reasons. Name me
2.24 one.
2.24 Huh? Finance. Number one. Number two.
2.24 Huh?
2.24 Skin color. Skin color. Skin color.
2.24 Number two. Number three, family.
2.24 Leanage. Number
2.24 four, intelligence. Number five, beauty.
2.24 Number six, knowledge. Number
2.24 seven, status. Again, status
2.24 self-appointed, right? He says, I&;m I
2.24 have. So, remember status is like this
2.24 with him. I have status. One day you you
2.24 wake up one
2.24 day and you wake up from your bed and
2.24 says, "I think I have
2.24 status." Self-appointed title. Nobody
2.24 gave it to
2.24 you.
2.24 Self-appointed. No woman, no man should
2.24 look down upon each other. The most
2.24 important thing is that you have faith.
2.24 They have faith. That is what brings two
2.24 hearts together. Amen.
2.24 And loyalty is to loyalty is to Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala. If the woman is
2.24 loyal to Allah and you are loyal to
2.24 Allah then you will find a way to make
2.24 that marriage
2.24 work. Remember the key today we want
2.24 loyalty from each other. No when the man
2.24 is loyal to Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 and the woman is also loyal to Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala then we&;ll find a
2.24 way to make it inshallah. And in the
2.24 worst case scenario, we read we read all
2.24 about tal inah bakar. You can come back
2.24 and recite you can go back and recite it
2.24 and look at the translation. But um in a
2.24 worst case scenario then if you need to
2.24 separate then you either live with them
2.24 as recognized or you release them in
2.24 fairness or you release them in
2.24 fairness. Marry them with the permission
2.24 of their masters.
2.24 here is not is family but the family of
2.24 a of a bond woman is who her
2.24 master again how many times Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala has mentioned to
2.24 give them their
2.24 mah and give them their
2.24 mah so men there is no need for you to
2.24 keep any mah outstanding Allahh says
2.24 give
2.24 them indication that it should be
2.24 given as recognized. According
2.24 to the master will is in also the
2.24 ownership of the mah. According
2.24 to the woman will be the owner of the
2.24 mah. And then
2.24 look the reason to get married to
2.24 them to bind them in marriage to make a
2.24 family have a family with them.
2.24 And it
2.24 says without taking them as your
2.24 mistresses, without taking them as um no
2.24 without committing um any um um shameful
2.24 acts with
2.24 them and not taking them as parammers or
2.24 mistresses and that is not the reason
2.24 and the purpose that you are getting
2.24 married to them. So again Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala is promoting what?
2.24 What&;s the purpose of marriage now?
2.24 Family. Period. Purpose of marriage is
2.24 what? Family. To bring a family. To
2.24 bring up a family to live together.
2.24 That&;s the purpose of
2.24 marriage.
2.24 But once they have you have married them
2.24 and you have bound them into in
2.24 marriage, if Allah forbid if she does
2.24 something wrong and if she commits a
2.24 shameful
2.24 act, then upon her and upon
2.24 them will be half of the punishment that
2.24 is upon a free woman.
2.24 A free woman if she&;s not married or a
2.24 free man if he&;s not married and they
2.24 commit a shameful act. What is the
2.24 punishment? Lashes. How many
2.24 lashes? 100. How many? 100. If they are
2.24 married, what&;s the punishment? Death.
2.24 As long as the witnesses give the
2.24 witness, right?
2.24 upon a slave girl or a slave
2.24 man, the 100 lashes will become
2.24 50. But how can you half kill
2.24 somebody? I&;m going to kill you
2.24 half. You can&;t half chop somebody&;s
2.24 head off, right? So Allah subhanahu the
2.24 punishment for them in both situations
2.24 is 50 lashes.
2.24 The punishment for them in both
2.24 situations married or unmarried is 50
2.24 lashes because it cannot be half. The
2.24 other one cannot
2.24 be from the
2.24 punishment. All this that has been
2.24 mentioned to
2.24 you. All this that has been mentioned to
2.24 you above, that is for the one who fears
2.24 to fall in sin.
2.24 to fall in sin. So Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala wants to prevent sin in society
2.24 and in order for that if a person can
2.24 afford it then he should get married to
2.24 a free woman. If a person cannot afford
2.24 it he can get married to a slave girl
2.24 and in both cases he will still have to
2.24 give her her mah. In both cases he will
2.24 still have to give her a mah. And in
2.24 both cases the the purpose and the goal
2.24 and the objective of marriage is to have
2.24 a family bind her in marriage and live
2.24 with her and give her the rights of
2.24 marriage and also give her the rights of
2.24 inheritance. One of the other reasons
2.24 right that Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala has
2.24 b has given this condition here that the
2.24 slave girl has to be a believer. If she
2.24 is a disbeliever, if she is a
2.24 non-believer, then the children that
2.24 will be born to her, they will also be
2.24 born in bondship meaning in slavery. So
2.24 the probability of them becoming Muslim
2.24 is less because she will be um um she
2.24 will the children will be with her. So
2.24 in that situation, Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala says to avoid that, making sure
2.24 that the progeny remains in the fold of
2.24 Islam, Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala has put
2.24 all of these rules and restrictions in
2.24 place so that in order to safeguard
2.24 society, in order to safeguard
2.24 society, then Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 says,
2.24 If you can be
2.24 patient, you don&;t have the finances to
2.24 get married to a free
2.24 woman. And if you can be patient and you
2.24 can control yourselves that you um that
2.24 you marry somebody who is a
2.24 slave, if you can be patient from doing
2.24 that or entering into that type of a of
2.24 a marriage, then patience might be
2.24 better for you. So technically again
2.24 safeguarding society. Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala saying that listen if you fear
2.24 that you&;re going to fall in sin then
2.24 get married. If you fear that you&;re not
2.24 going to be you&;re not going to fall in
2.24 sin then save up some money and get
2.24 married to a free
2.24 woman. Free believing woman right? Again
2.24 I put the clause free believing woman.
2.24 What do we learn from here? We learned
2.24 the following to de a person who
2.24 is a a man or a woman who is in need of
2.24 getting married and the marriage is
2.24 delayed for no apparent reason and Allah
2.24 forbid Allah forbid if the child falls
2.24 or the children fall into sin the person
2.24 and the the responsible party will be
2.24 who? Huh? Who&;s the responsible party?
2.24 The parents.
2.24 The responsible party is the parents.
2.24 That&;s why the prophet sallallahu alaihi
2.24 wasallam says when you receive a
2.24 proposal when you receive a proposal and
2.24 the proposal is good and the morals and
2.24 the etiquets of the person is good he
2.24 might not be he might not be Elon
2.24 Musk he might not have the finances or
2.24 he might not be like a rich person or a
2.24 fluent person but if he is a of good
2.24 morals if he has good
2.24 etiquette then you should give your
2.24 daughter in marriage. If you
2.24 don&;t, there will be a great trial and
2.24 tribulation in
2.24 society and a disorder in society that
2.24 is
2.24 widespread. A widespread disorder. Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala does not
2.24 like or group of young
2.24 men, if you can afford $1,000, if you
2.24 can afford 500 bucks, get
2.24 married. You should get married. And
2.24 this is the commander from Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala. Allah does not like
2.24 young men and young women roaming about
2.24 society without merch.
2.24 that this is something that is goes
2.24 against our it goes against our nature
2.24 that we um that you Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala has placed desire in every human
2.24 being and it goes against our nature not
2.24 to get married. So those parents who
2.24 continuously delay their like um the
2.24 marriage is because you know he has to
2.24 have a job, he has to earn his own
2.24 house, he has to leave the home, he has
2.24 to do this, he has to do
2.24 that. You&;re just putting more and more
2.24 restrictions upon the person. And by the
2.24 way, the leaving of the home at the age
2.24 of 18 or is it 16? What is it? Huh? 18.
2.24 The leaving of the home at the age of 18
2.24 is Muslim tradition or non-Muslim
2.24 tradition. Why do we practice it
2.24 then? There is no reason for a boy or a
2.24 man or a woman to leave the parent the
2.24 parents&; home at the age of 18. Now go
2.24 home and tell your parents that mom and
2.24 dad I&;m going to live with you
2.24 forever. Imam said, Imam said, you can&;t
2.24 throw me
2.24 out. So if the boy gets rebellious, you
2.24 can show him the door. But even if a
2.24 woman gets rebellious, you can&;t show
2.24 her the door. You just
2.24 can&;t. What would this will cause a
2.24 bigger fna? It will cause a greater
2.24 disorder. So if a woman becomes um
2.24 disobedient, you cannot show her the
2.24 door. So parents are fully responsible
2.24 parents again but a father mashallah
2.24 Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala Allah is Allah
2.24 has given him the heart Allah has given
2.24 him the love that he does not think like
2.24 that he does not think of being
2.24 separated from his children right right
2.24 fathers why do you have your fingers
2.24 crossed a father doesn&;t think like that
2.24 a father mashallah subhanahu wa tala has
2.24 given him a big
2.24 Alhamdulillah
2.24 says Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala is all
2.24 forgiving all merciful then says Allah
2.24 wishes what does he
2.24 wish to clearly explain something to
2.24 you is when you person gives a lecture
2.24 what you say what is he
2.24 giving means that the purpose of the is
2.24 so that the listener understand
2.24 everything very clearly. The purpose of
2.24 the bayan is not to use certain language
2.24 and such superior language that nobody
2.24 can understand you. You know one day I
2.24 sat in a professor&;s
2.24 lecture. I would need a dictionary to
2.24 understand his
2.24 lecture and this and that and
2.24 this. So some people mashallah Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala has given them
2.24 eloquency but you have to talk we have
2.24 to talk on the level and and the
2.24 understanding of everybody that every
2.24 person in your gathering should be able
2.24 to understand him. So Allah is saying
2.24 the way I have just explained this all
2.24 about nikah I have clearly explained it
2.24 to you. Allah wishes that he clearly
2.24 explains something to you so that you
2.24 understand
2.24 it and he guide
2.24 you in the
2.24 ways of those people who pass before you
2.24 from the is what isal and what is
2.24 haram and Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 wishes that you implement this so that
2.24 Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala can and and to
2.24 relent to you and and turn to you and
2.24 you and relent you and relent means that
2.24 he accept your repentance your turning
2.24 back Allah is the who is the
2.24 manufacturer Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 who manufactured human beings who better
2.24 to know what is good for us and what is
2.24 bad for us than Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala and Allah is all knowing
2.24 And Allah is very wise. Allah knows what
2.24 he&;s created and Allah knows our
2.24 limitations and Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala knows that we have desires and
2.24 Allah subhanahu wa tala has clearly
2.24 explained to us on how to fulfill those
2.24 desires and then again Allah again Allah
2.24 emphasizes again Allah wishes that he
2.24 turn to you in um um and in accepting
2.24 your
2.24 repentance says repeated it again so
2.24 that a person And Allah knows that Allah
2.24 that he&;s emphasizing that Allah knows
2.24 that you are going to make mistakes and
2.24 errors if you do not act upon the
2.24 previous and Allah subhana wa tala says
2.24 by acting upon the previous you you will
2.24 then make TBA and you will come back and
2.24 return from your bad ways and you&;ll
2.24 turn into and you&;ll come come to the um
2.24 the path of chastity and when you come
2.24 onto the path of chastity Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala will accept your
2.24 return that&;s what it means
2.24 But it
2.24 goes and intend those individuals who
2.24 follow and pursue their desires.
2.24 The general
2.24 society that you become that you
2.24 lean want you to become want you to
2.24 deviate a great
2.24 deviation. Now there are people who
2.24 promote that you know the message should
2.24 be open for men and women. It should be
2.24 alhamdulillah. I agree. But there should
2.24 be no partition between men and women.
2.24 This says why? Because because our boys
2.24 and our boys need to get married. So
2.24 okay. Okay. So what&;s that got to do
2.24 with
2.24 that? Okay. Now there is promotion that
2.24 you know masid needs to become more
2.24 open. Okay. Mazjid open the doors. It&;ll
2.24 become more open.
2.24 So no, mazjid is to become more open
2.24 where men and women should be sitting
2.24 right in front of each other in a mixed
2.24 gathering and the imam should address
2.24 them
2.24 both. Okay, no
2.24 problem. Okay, no problem. Give me the
2.24 proof from the Quran and the sunnah of
2.24 the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
2.24 This is no at the time of the prophet
2.24 sallallahu alaihi wasallam women used to
2.24 go to the masid. says even women come to
2.24 the masid even
2.24 now at the time of the prophet sallallah
2.24 wasallam women used to be behind the men
2.24 and the prophet sallallahu alaihi
2.24 wasallam was and the men were in
2.24 front pick up the books of
2.24 hadith the prophet sallallahu alaihi
2.24 wasallam would lead the men and the
2.24 women in prayer number
2.24 one and then when the prophet
2.24 sallallaihi wasallam would turn around
2.24 he would say no bird of the men turn
2.24 around. None of the men turn
2.24 around until all of the women
2.24 leave and then he would give the men the
2.24 permission to move from their spots
2.24 until the masid has become empty. He
2.24 then gives permission to for the men to
2.24 leave their position. Not that they&;re
2.24 leaving the masid all at the same from
2.24 the same entrance and exit point.
2.24 Nowadays, this type of control is not
2.24 there. So you have to have separate
2.24 entrances because how you can you
2.24 imagine nowadays saying men sit keep sit
2.24 keep sitting and let all the women leave
2.24 all the men will also
2.24 go I&;m just telling you
2.24 fact now if you want to build something
2.24 and if you want to make something you
2.24 have to make sure that the proper
2.24 etiquette of the masid is maintained and
2.24 mazjid and its surrounding
2.24 areas masid and its surrounding areas if
2.24 there is no if there is no restriction
2.24 now because um you know there&;s a center
2.24 in Virginia it has a coffee shop
2.24 um what they do call it in the masid uh
2.24 there&;s another name for it um if you
2.24 guys remind me there&;s a it&;s a it&;s not
2.24 a coffee shop it&;s a
2.24 um it&;s a
2.24 hangout lounge
2.24 right and the boys and girls are sitting
2.24 there having chai having
2.24 coffee. Is that permissible? Would it be
2.24 permissible in an Islamic institute?
2.24 Would it be permissible? And but there
2.24 are people now from Muslims who also
2.24 want to promote this. You want to
2.24 promote this type of um this type then
2.24 you don&;t have to do it in the masid,
2.24 right? You can do it in your own homes.
2.24 You can do it in your own homes, but you
2.24 don&;t have to bring that environment of
2.24 your home into the masid. Or let it be
2.24 your lack of
2.24 understanding. Let it be a lack of
2.24 understanding that you just don&;t know.
2.24 And because you just don&;t know, you
2.24 shouldn&;t be making those
2.24 decisions. If you&;re going to have a
2.24 coffee shop, it has to be separate
2.24 entrances in the Mid.
2.24 If you are going to have a men and
2.24 women&;s prayer prayer area, it has to be
2.24 different. So otherwise what&;s going to
2.24 happen? Look, don&;t look at what&;s going
2.24 to happen today. Look 50 years from
2.24 today. Look 60 years from today. It&;s
2.24 going to and we are going to be the
2.24 people who initiated it. All that sin
2.24 will come upon us.
2.24 Do not initiate something evil in
2.24 society because everybody that follows
2.24 that evil will you we will get the sin.
2.24 If you want to initiate something in
2.24 society and propagate market something
2.24 good innovate something good. Allah has
2.24 given you intelligence. Allah has given
2.24 you intellect. Use it to do something
2.24 good rather than you know making the
2.24 masid a boys and girls
2.24 club and you promote it like that. The
2.24 youth are going to love
2.24 it. The youth are going to love it.
2.24 because they just don&;t know, right?
2.24 They just don&;t know. May Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala give us the
2.24 understanding. And if a imam or somebody
2.24 says, you know, this is wrong, this is
2.24 this im backwards, man. This im lives in
2.24 lives in
2.24 cuckuland. This imam doesn&;t live in
2.24 America. By the way, this im was born in
2.24 United Kingdom. And I all my friends
2.24 were non-Muslim. I used to be the only
2.24 colored guy in school. Not the only me
2.24 but only Muslim guy in school. So I know
2.24 what it means. I know exactly what it
2.24 means. I we used to I mean all my
2.24 friends were
2.24 non-Muslim. All my friends were
2.24 non-Muslim in school. All right. So um
2.24 to understand if um um what it means and
2.24 to understand the pressures of of school
2.24 and university and all that we
2.24 understand that but that doesn&;t mean we
2.24 try to imitate and bring that
2.24 environment into the house of Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala the house of Allah
2.24 is sacred house of Allah is what
2.24 sacred and the
2.24 sanctity and the of the house of Allah
2.24 and its surrounding needs to be
2.24 maintained at all
2.24 times. You understand what I said,
2.24 right? You understood what I
2.24 said. What time is it?
2.24 9:25. Subhan Allah. Oh, today we have
2.24 some time. It&;s 9:45.
2.24 Sorry. So, Allah subhanahu wa ta&;ala
2.24 says, "You said you wanted me to
2.24 finish."
2.24 read and intend those individuals that
2.24 who want to follow their
2.24 desires that you you deviate a great dev
2.24 um deviate
2.24 completely means to lean towards
2.24 something. What does it mean to lean? To
2.24 lean towards a certain a thought
2.24 process, a third certain tradition,
2.24 certain practice. Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala says in the
2.24 Quran, do not even slant towards those
2.24 who are
2.24 unjust. If you do that, the fire will
2.24 catch
2.24 you. Fire will what?
2.24 the fire will catch you. So please be
2.24 mindful that even leaning towards these
2.24 type of thought processes is not
2.24 promising. Leaning towards these thought
2.24 processes is
2.24 not. So um there was um one in one um
2.24 discussion he goes you know the it is it
2.24 is not appropriate for men to look at
2.24 women but it&;s okay for women to look at
2.24 men. I says,
2.24 "Huh? You hearing that, sisters?" I
2.24 said, I go, "How is that?" He goes, "You
2.24 know was watching the the men in the
2.24 masid or masid and we
2.24 practicing. But who was standing next to
2.24 her? Who was standing next to her? The
2.24 prophet sallallahu alaihi
2.24 wasallam." Right? Number one. And number
2.24 two, one day the wives of the prophet
2.24 sallallahu alaihi wasallam, a blind
2.24 sahhabi, a blind
2.24 companion, he was he was going to enter
2.24 into the room. So the prophet sallallahu
2.24 alaihi wasallam said, "Make um make
2.24 hijab, cover yourself, cover yourself in
2.24 a way that you can&;t see
2.24 him." They said, "Yoolah, he&;s blind. He
2.24 can&;t see us." The prophet says he can&;t
2.24 see you, but you can see him.
2.24 He can&;t see you but you can see him
2.24 right so I&;m not sure where that thought
2.24 process is coming from but um we have
2.24 proof in the hadith of the prophet
2.24 sallallahu alaihi wasallam otherwise so
2.24 remember whatever decisions that you
2.24 make you have to first make sure that
2.24 the sanctity of the masid is maintained
2.24 sanctity of the masid is what maintained
2.24 at all times
2.24 So then Allah subhanahu wa tala
2.24 says Allah wishes that he make it easy
2.24 upon you. Allah wants to what? Make
2.24 marriage what? Easy upon you. Allah
2.24 wants to make marriage easy. But what
2.24 who&;s made it difficult?
2.24 Society. Allah made marriage easy. Who
2.24 made it difficult? Society. You
2.24 read and then look at the Allah
2.24 concludes. Allah has created man
2.24 weak. Man has been created weak. There
2.24 is no man who cannot live without a
2.24 woman and there&;s no woman who can live
2.24 without a man. This is the way of Allah
2.24 subhanahu wa ta&;ala&;s creation. This is
2.24 how Allah has created us. A person tight
2.24 try to go against that. Allah says you
2.24 are weak. you won&;t be able to do it.
2.24 you won&;t be able to remain chast. May
2.24 Allah subhana wa tala give me and you
2.24 the guidance and to understand what we
2.24 have um read and understand what we have
2.24 translated and understand what we have
2.24 learned and whatever mistakes and errors
2.24 that we have made Allah subhanahu wa
2.24 ta&;ala forgive us and inshallah the next
2.24 part is we&;re changing theme
2.24 slightly we&;re going to go into next
2.24 week a bit business all right so um
2.24 we&;ll discuss that inshallah
2.24 Allah give us and guidance. Allah give
2.24 us baraka in our lives. Next week
2.24 inshallah we&;ll discuss
2.24 [Music]
2.24 that. Subhan allah. Alhamdulillah.
2.24 [Music]
